My name is Elizabeth Rivera, founder and CEO of Career Divers. This organization was born from one of the most vulnerable and transformative chapters of my life. After seven years in Finance, including years as a global leader at the second-largest investment management firm in the world, I suddenly found myself without a job. It was a moment that shook me, but it also opened a door I had never allowed myself to walk through.
For the first time in years, I paused. I gave myself permission to breathe, to rest, and to explore the parts of life I had put on hold. That’s when I discovered scuba diving. What began as a simple attempt to reconnect with myself became a profound turning point. Underwater, while being in awe of a world that exists just beneath the surface, a world only a few get to explore, those brave enough to embrace the dive and make the adjustments needed to go deeper, I felt something shift inside me.
With every dive, I realized how much of myself I had overlooked. A lightbulb went on: I had value that stood on its own, without needing a title, a company, or external validation. That realization led me to take a deeper dive inward. I asked myself the hard questions, the ones that require courage, honesty, and patience. Some answers, like my ‘Why’, came surprisingly easy. Others required deeper reflection.
I also certified as an Advanced Deep Diver, learning to use enriched air. In diving, you can keep using the same oxygen mix, but you burn out faster and can’t go deeper for long. To go deeper, extend your time, and increase safety, you have to adjust your mix.
Our careers work the same way. Sustained growth requires intentional shifts in how we operate and where we invest energy. Through that journey, my mission became clear.
Career Divers was created to help others navigate their own depths, to explore who they are, what they want, and what they are meant to contribute. We are a community-centered space dedicated to intentional exploration, personal clarity, and meaningful career development. Like in diving, sustained growth requires intentional shifts in how we operate and where we invest energy. Here, we believe that the deeper you go, the more you discover. And that every person deserves the chance to rise with purpose.
