As found and mentor at Career Divers, I certified to use enriched air as an Advanced Deep Diver. In diving, you can keep using the same oxygen mix, but you burn out faster and can’t go deeper for long. To go deeper, extend your time, and increase safety, you have to adjust your mix.
Our careers work the same way. Sustained growth requires intentional shifts in how we operate and where we invest energy. At Career Divers, we see this every day, professionals who want to grow, but need the right mix of clarity, support, and aligned environments to truly go deeper.
In recent conversations with my coach and mentors, I’ve been reflecting on the systems, environments, and cultural expectations that shape leadership. I’ve been examining the loyalties that strengthen us, and the unspoken ones that can hold us back.
Many of us, especially minority and Latino leaders, speak about unity and collective advancement, yet we also navigate pressures to conform or fit a mold that may not reflect our full authenticity. These tensions aren’t unique to us; they are real, and they deserve thoughtful reflection without judgment.
I hold deep respect for the Black community. Their history of fighting for freedom, equity, and justice created many of the rights and opportunities that Latinos and other communities benefit from today. Their example of collective strength and solidarity continues to shape how I think about leadership and community responsibility.
As I reflected on my journey, I reached a moment of clarity. After years of investing in community-building and equity work, I was asked to step back from the very efforts that energize me. A clear misalignment between my values and my environment. I was even advised to avoid community work as it was “no longer funded or supported.” I shook my head. Community development remains a business imperative.
The data reinforces this: Latinos contribute over $4T to U.S. GDP and hold more than $2T in consumer power. These are economic realities that influence markets, trends, long-term competitiveness, and innovation. Equity isn’t separate from business strategy—it powers it.
While I love strategy, data, and economics, my deepest energy comes from giving back, mentoring, supporting, and creating long-term impact that compounds over time. I’m inspired daily by communities who lift as they rise. This is the foundation of Career Divers—helping professionals explore, realign, and grow with intention.
Today, I’m grateful for time—to realign, plan, and look ahead.

• What are your core values and non-negotiables? Do they align with your environment?
• What drives you? Are you acting on it today?
• How do you define success personally and professionally? Do these two align?
• Build your community rooted in your values. Stay loyal to what strengthens you and leverage your community to grow and thrive.
I’m looking forward to my upcoming enhanced and beautified dive. There’s something powerful about going deeper with the right mix of intention and clarity.
